I bought my first cricket kit from UP & haven't changed the brand since: Piyush Chawla

Preparing for the upcoming Ranji Trophy with his team, Piyush Chawla first visited Noida and then headed to Meerut recently. When we caught up with the star leg spinner, he had many flattering things to say about the state's cricket culture. And his wife, Anubhuti Chawla, who was accompanying him, shared titbits about the fun side of her husband.
Ideal atmosphere for budding cricketers in U.P.
"A huge amount of talent has surfaced in UP in recent years and I think it's because of the cricket craze here. The coaches and mentors in Uttar Pradesh are some of the best in India and they know how to hone the skills of the players. The players here are also working equally hard to improve their batting, bowling as well as fielding skills," Piyush says. The cricketer swears by UP bats, too. He says, "I bought my first cricket kit from Meerut and I haven't changed the brand since."

Although Piyush says he doesn't know what he would have done for a living had he not been a cricketer, his wife begs to differ. She says, "I think if not a cricketer, he would have been a stand-up comedian. He looks focused when he is on field but after that, he puts on his funny hat and is a riot off the field!"
Working out with Piyush is fun
Anubhuti adds, "I have always been careful about my health and after marriage, maintaining a healthy lifestyle has only become easier. I took a break from working after I got married and have been accompanying Piyush to the gym every morning. His training regime is obviously different but he still helps me out a lot. Workout sessions with him are always fun.
